DIY Skin Care Recipes

It’s so important for us to pay attention to everything we are absorbing into our bodies.  We discuss common toxins present in many body products in our Paper Yourself Workshop so please come along and learn for yourself how to tell what’s Ok and what’s not!  I make a lot of my own products, I buy many of doTERRA’s ready made products (face mask, spa range, skin care range etc!) and I know what to look out for in other body products – and I can help you too!   Here are some of my favourite DIY recipes below…

 

Lavender & Citrus Bliss Bath Bombs

Ingredients:

  • 100g bicarb soda
  • 40g citric acid
  • 10 drops Lavender
  • 5 drops Citrus Bliss
  • 10-15ml fractionated coconut oil
  • silicone moulds
  • optional: dried lavender buds
  1. Whisk together bicarb soda and citric acid until well combined
  2. Add 10ml fractionated coconut oil, essential oils and optional lavender buds – whisk again until combined
  3. If necessary add additional fractionated coconut oil to help mixture stick together
  4. Push mixture firmly into silicone moulds
  5. Leave to dry in a cool, dry area overnight, up to 24 hours
  6. Once completely dry, remove from moulds and store in a glass, sealed jar

 

LUXURIOUS EPSOM SALTS BATH SOAK

 

Ingredients:

  • Epsom Salts
  • 5 drops of Lavender Peace
  • 5 drops of ClarySage
  • 5 drops of Patchouli
  • Dried lavender

Method:

Add the Epsom Salts,essential oils and dried Lavender give it a good shake – use a tablespoon in your bath. Lie back and enjoy!

NOTE: If pregnant skip using ClarySage essential oil and substitute with Ylang Ylang

 

Anti-Aging Face Serum

Ingredients

  • 10 drops of Frankincense
  • 3 drops of Myrrh
  • 5 drops of Lavender
  • 2 drops of Helichrysum

In a 10ml roller bottle top up with a carrier oil
(fractionated coconut oil, jojoba oil or rosehip oil)

OR

  • 20 drops of Salubelle

 

WHIPPED BODY BUTTER

Ingredients

  • ½ cup cocoa butter
  • ½ cup shea butter
  • ½ cup coconut oil
  • ½ cup olive oil
  • 3 drops Lavender essential oil
  • 3 drops Geranium essential oil
  • 3 drops of Myrrh essential oil
  • 3 drops of Frankincense essential oil

Method

  1. Add cocoa butter, shea butter, coconut oil and olive oil into a glass bowl over a saucepan of boiling water.
  2. Heat until the ingredients are melted, mixing with a whisk then put the mixture into the fridge for one hour or until firm.
  3. Whip the ingredients with a hand mixer until creamy and light. Add essential oils and mix again.
  4. Spoon the body butter into glass jars and it will firm up after a few minutes.
  5. The recipe will make 2 ½ cups of body butter
